There is a little known nickname for the Kuala Lumpur amongst tourists – The City of Lights. All it takes is a quick stroll through Bukit Bintang and its surrounding districts to know that this nickname holds true.

While there are not many residential properties currently available for sale in Bukit Bintang, it is definitely one of the sought-after investment hotspots in town.

There are plenty of reasons to love Bukit Bintang as a district, and today we will explore some of them.

1. The go-to-place for shopping

Whenever you think of shopping, you might think of Midvalley, the mall with one of the largest footfalls in the country; or maybe even 1Utama, one of the physically largest malls in the country. However, most of these shopping locations are confined to a small district, and you rarely get to walk outdoors.

However, Bukit Bintang is different. The area has long been Kuala Lumpur’s most prominent retail belt that is home to many landmark shopping centres, al-fresco caf√©s, bars, night markets, food street as well as hawker-type eateries.

Walking through the streets at night, you will find the pedestrian walks full of people, both local and international, walking from building to building, mall to mall, in and out of hotels.

There is plenty that Bukit Bintang has to offer via walking distance. You have the highlights, Ferenheit 88 and Lot 10, both of which are just a few minutes away from Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. If you are a tech geek, Low Yat Plaza is there to satiate all your IT needs.

Never forget the mini stalls littered around by the roadside, peddlers that sell knick-knacks or street performers playing live music, adding to the atmosphere than what is already a bustling district in town.

2. Indoor Theme Park

For those who are new to Kuala Lumpur, did you know that there is actually a full-fledged indoor theme park right in Berjaya Time Square? There is no need to travel all the way up to Genting Highlands to get a kick out of excitement!

Located between level 5 and 7 of Berjaya Times Square, it was touted as Malaysia’s largest indoor theme park, measuring 133,000 square feet in size, and is also the second-largest indoor theme park in Asia.

There are a total of 14 rides in two separate themes – Galaxy Station and Fantasy Garden, with attractions such as a rollercoaster, indoor mountain climbing, buggy rides, virtual reality, merry-go-rounds and so much more.

To add more variety into the mix, there is a laser tag arena and an “escape room” located in the theme park as well.

3. Accessibility

Bukit Bintang is definitely worthy of being labelled as the heart of Kuala Lumpur, located at the crossroads of few of the busiest streets in the district – Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Imbi and Jalan Raja Chulan.

However, being the tourist attraction that it is, it is also highly accessible via public transport. Bintang Walk is accessible via the Bukit Bintang Monorail station, which is located between Lot 10 and Sungei Wang Plaza.

Further south is the Imbi Monorail station which is connected by a pedestrian bridge directly connected to Berjaya Times Square. The Raja Chulan Monorail station is connected to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and an elevated pedestrian walkway links it to Suria KLCC, which indirectly links it to the KLCC LRT station.

While travelling internally around the Kuala Lumpur region is easy with the Monorail, the KLCC LRT station is perhaps the easiest way in and out of Bukit Bintang as a whole if you are travelling via the Kelana Jaya Line. Who can also forget the underground Bukit Bintang MRT station, which is part of the Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT line as well, featuring five exits directly placing you near the entrance of nearby shopping malls.

4. Cultural Hotpot

It is safe to say that Bukit Bintang is perhaps one of the most culturally diverse locations in the entirety of Klang Valley. Sit in an outdoor cafe and observe the people that are walking by, not only will you see a constant stream of locals but Western and Asian expatriates as well.

You are able to easily find new foreign friends in the local pubs littered around the district, or you can enjoy the delicious, authentic Arabian food lining the streets. It is a place where you are able to find people of all demographics – rich businessmen rushing off to work, and foreign labourers looking for a great way to spend the evening.

Along with the hustle and bustle of the city, it is hard to find another place like this in the country. For those people who are looking for such an experience, Bukit Bintang is definitely the place to go to.
